The "Edinburgh of the South" have long been the words to describe Dunedin.

Settled by the Scots, today it celebrates its heritage with haggis ceremonies, a whiskey distillery and spectacular Edwardian and Victorian architecture. Its early wealth came from the gold fields of Central Otago. The sheltered bays, secluded beaches and sheer cliffs of Otago Peninsula provide a home to the rare and endangered yellow-eyed penguin.
