Across Cook Strait the inlets and bays of the Marlborough Sounds are the first taste of the spectacular scenic and activity offerings of the South Island.

The Nelson region boasts 3 of the most popular national parks and is renowned for its arts and crafts. Marlborough is famous for its horticulture and wine-growing. Seafood delicacies such as crayfish (lobster), green-lipped mussels and scallops all hail from the northern regions of the South Island.
